When you’re a parent I’ve found that no where in the home seems quite like it’s just YOURS. You jump in the tub to find it full of bath toys, or go to pull your wallet out of your oddly heavy purse only to find rocks, sticks and random “collection items” you know, like the piece of garbage the kids couldn’t live without. You hurry and make yourself lunch only look down and see tiny eyes waiting by your feet to help gobble it up-even though you made them the same thing-your lunch looks way better. And don’t even get me started on my journal I found turned into a coloring book *cue the tears*.
I have finally found a place that is just ours (mine and my husbands)-well until around 4am. But from 8:30 till when those tiny little toes come running down the hallway in the early morning me and my husband get the bed ALL to ourselves! The bed is the place that we can enjoy some alone time. Some quiet time to recharge, to meditate, to pray, to talk about life, our goals, our challenges, to not only daydream but catch some ‘ZZZ’ in dreamland and of course bing tv, and spend time as a couple.
Since these few hours we get together are so cherished, needed, and WANTED! I wanted to create a space that was first off comfy (you can see my basic bedding post here) so I started with the basics. Well now that the comfy level is at 100% we decided to spice up our bedroom and give only our bed a makeover! You can see the before with the pink comforter, to now! It’s so crazy what can happened to your room with a small change like bedding. I went with more gender neutral colors and LOTS and LOTS of texture, I love to use throw pillows and throw blankets to achieve this! If I had to choose only two favorite pieces (which is really hard) it would be the fur throw and the woven shag pillow. In all honestly I am just so happy with how it all came together, and how just a few changes to the bedding can change the entire room, and allow me and my husband to make it a little escape just for us. Where is your favorite place to escape?
Aaaahh bedtime! It can be the most heavenly and the most devilish words to parents. For us the word bedtime was the devil reincarnated up until about 6 months ago. We had moved into a new home and the boys were not dealing with the change well. It was hard for them to get settled in their new space and bedtime happened around 11:30 at night and everyone would just fall where they would drop! It was rough stuff, especially because I really wanted to get some ‘me’ after bedtime.
I finally broke down one night after too many almost nervous breakdowns caused from sleep deprivation, and decided that a routine bedtime was exactly what we needed! I found that books and cozy bedding were the solution to the chaos that was bedtime. I am happy to say we can get the boys down for bed WHEREVER we are... even our own backyard! I finally understand why moms want to get their babies up from bed after they have fallen asleep just to cuddle them. It really is a bittersweet time of day, but really sweet when you finally have bedtime figured out!
I always love the week of Mother’s Day because each year my husband pulls out the tent and we have a little backyard getaway. It’s perfect because it’s warm enough to spend the night with the kids-especially cuddled in The Company Store goodies, it lets us getaway without having to pack bags, and it allows us to still stick to our bedtime routine- plus it’s the first sign (for our family) that summer is near. The boys love it, I love it...the dogs even love it! Plus if you’re like me sweet gestures, like taking the time and setting up the tent filled with the cutest products from The Company Store, is the best gift I could ask for!
This year along with the products from The Company Store, we bought a new book which always makes everyone excited; especially when it’s one we love so much we can read over and over again; Ones that can bring a tear to my eyes, and help me to realize that no matter how draining this motherhood journey can be there’s nowhere else in the world I would want to be. It just makes the chaos that is bedtime worth it and the cozy cuddles that much more sweet.

You know that smell when you walk into your home that just makes you sigh “awe, home...?” Leaving you with the best feeling.
Well as it turns out after having three animals...er, I mean boys-let’s actually make that four boys total including my husband, my house tends to smell a little stinky. Then let’s just add two dogs on that list-stinker...and a broken washer and dryer which means dirty piles of laundry until I make it to the laundromat-stinkiness, and let’s not even mention the Van that has to haul ALL of the stink, stinkier, and stinkiest around!! That “awe, home” sigh I was talking about, well it's gone!! I still love being home but most of the time when I jump in the van with the boys or right when I walk into my doorway, I think “eeew” what is that smell, and instead of putting my mind into a relaxing state it sends it right into a cleaning frenzy state of mind trying to get ALL the smells out of my house! Well that was until I tried out Febreze ONE.
Febreze ONE is all the yumminess of the Febreze smells but without all the things that may have turned you off before; It doesn’t use aerosols, dyes or heavy perfumes, but still effectively eliminates odors like Febreze’s other products
Our biggest area of concern isn’t only our air, but our fabric as well; our couches, rugs, pillows etc. Kids and dogs are rough on those items and I don’t have the time to wash them everyday; I love that Febreze ONE has the same odor elimination power of other Febreze products with a unique two-in-one formula that makes it perfect for removing odors both in the air and on fabrics!
I get so worried with heavy perfume smells on my fabric because it seems to cause me headaches; but this is the exact reason I love Febreze ONE! I have been using it without a single hint of a headache...well except for a tantrum throwing induced kind of mom headache ;) Which is actually kind of perfect because whenever I feel one of those child induced headaches coming on, I’ll spray a little of the Febreze ONE in Orchid; why orchid you might ask? A Febreze ONE survey actually found that Orchid can help you feel calm and soothed. So it’s the perfect smell for when I am taking a little breather from “mom’ing” on the couch.
I know I’m not the only one whose mood is affected by smells. Febreze ONE survey also found that: “90% of Americans have found that a fresh smelling environment can give them a positive state of mind or even improve mood or performance.” Think about it, does your mood change?
Which is why I think it is so cool that Febreze ONE scents can have the below effects!
•BAMBOO scent can make people feel calm
•CITRUS scent can leave folks feeling energized and
•The scent of ORCHID can leave consumers feeling calm and soothed
Which scent do you think you would use in your home, or really anywhere smelly? I know I love the BAMBOO and ORCHID scents best to help with the smells from the wild animals (aka boys) roaming my house and to have a happy ONE state of mind!
So we just got our house plans started to build a home. We are excited because it means we are closer to achieving one of our goals. Not only will a HUGE life goal be completed once it’s finished we will also finally be able to feel like we can settle into a forever home. The last two homes we have lived in I have felt so unsettled; not in material items but mentally, I just knew that the foundation of the home that was holding my family was not ours...I knew we wouldn’t be there long so my mind just didn’t want to get any attachment leaving me unsettled/anxious. We started building our “foundation” on our dreams and each other and it has worked well for now. I have realized that a strong ‘foundation’ no matter what you build it on family, religion, your dreams etc. is important in this life. Not only is a strong foundation mentally important it is also important in the items that we choose to bring into our home; which is why we went with The Company Store for our basic bedding. Basics are the foundation to bedding, and to build a strong bedding foundation I decided I needed to go with quality!
I have started off with these basics: pillows, pillow cover, sheets, and a comforter. I have my eyes on one of their duvet covers but I decided to stick to just the basics to build my foundation. I went with the Bamboo/cotton comforter in color shell because it was such a soft pretty pink with more of an orange undertone and with all these boys around I wanted to bring some femininity to my home somewhere. It’s SO soft-without even washing it! I’m just going to come out right now and just say it- EVERYTHING I own from The Company Store is SO soft and cozy, and I am very picky, especially when it comes to my pillow cases.
For the pillow cases I went with two Velvet Lace Flannel Bedding pillowcases and two Bamboo/Cotton Shams to match my comforter. I like the shams and how they fold in the back to ensure the pillows will stay in. Velvet Lace Flannel pillowcases are thick enough I don’t have to worry about my pillows getting ruined, and the pretty lace detail is just gorgeous! I actually went with the Velvet Lace Flannel sheets as well just because I knew I couldn’t surpass the lace detail with the shell color comforter, and they will keep me warmer because I am always so cold at night. I was worried about ‘pilling’ happening because that’s what happens to most of my flannel sheets and I am a pleased to announce that everything remained as though it was brand new!
We also got NEW pillows!! That’s like getting new socks or new underwear...if your like me if I had limitless money I would have a new pair do socks and undies everyday...let’s just add pillows to that list too! These pillows made me want to hit the hay as soon as I laid on them. I went with the Supreme Down Pillow I was worried about ordering pillows I online because I am such a touch type of person, but I will say these pillows did not disappoint! I’m so glad I took the plunge and got quality basic items, that really aren’t that basic at all, from The Company Store to help me to build a strong foundation for my bedroom.
*this product was gifted by Happiest Baby for an honest review
Being sleep deprived and having two other boys at home was my biggest worry with bringing Grizz, my third baby, home. I knew it was going to be a challenge to find the time to rest with two other kids running around the house while trying to keep my baby asleep. I was lucky enough to have family close by so that when I did need that extra sleep and help I could get it, but when I was home with the boys it was nice to know that I had the SNOO by Happiest Baby as my trusty helper.
If you don’t know what the SNOO is you can find more information about it here. It’s basically a magic bassinet-not even lying; It uses motions and white noise to help your baby stay SNOO-zin. The white noise was so necessary with my two older boys.
I once saw a negative comment about the SNOOreplacing a parent-I honestly has to laugh at this comment because the SNOO does not take away any valuable baby time. I still got my fair-okay probably overly share of cuddles, and I still rocked my baby to sleep on the nights he needed me too! The SNOO doesn’t replace it assisted. It allowed me to be the rest I needed so that I could be a better mom to all of my children. It allowed me to quickly take a shower (with the door open) while knowing that he would be safe inside. It allowed me to rest easy knowing that it was the safest possible bed option for Grizz to be in. It was the best possible assistant I could have asked for 6 months of Grizz’s life.
The swaddle of the SNOO is my very favorite part! If I couldn’t afford the SNOO I would find a way to invest in the swaddles. They are easy to use and they are 100% amazing. They use Velcro, and zip/unzip from both directions making late night bum changes a breeze! I think my favorite part about them was the way they attached to the sides of the SNOO preventing Grizz from rolling over in his sleep, and it kept his face away from the sides (which are breathable and washable). Since the swaddle hooks to the side anytime they may slip off the motion would turn off helping to keep baby safe!
After 6 months I transitioned Grizz to his crib and it was the easiest transition I have ever had with any of my children. I believe that the SNOO really helped get Grizz into a routine of being able to self-soothe and distinguish bedtime from daytime. I would nurse him change his bum, talk/sing to him, cuddle him, rock him etc. then when it was time to actually go to sleep I would put him in his SNOO and turn on the rocker part and give him his pacifier, and he learned how to put himself to sleep on the gentle mode. I believe that since he learned at such a young age how to put himself to sleep without nursing, a bottle, or myself that it made the crib switch really a breeze. They do have options for helping to transition your baby from SNOO to crib but I honestly haven’t even read them! When I noticed Grizz getting to big for the SNOO around 5 months I started weaning him off the motion of the SNOO by turning it off once he fell asleep. Once he coped with (that about 3 nights) I stopped using the motion on the SNOO completely and just used the swaddle/attach part. After he got use to that I moved him to his crib and he began self soothing and sleeping through the night like a champ, I used the swaddle in the crib for about a week, but he began rolling over so I stopped.
I took to my Instagram page and decided to open up the questions to my followers because I felt there questions are would be the best help here are some of them..
My sister @lishellet asked: Does it rock all the time or just when the baby starts crying?
It has a continuous rocking motion that is very gentle that doesn’t turn off unless you turn the SNOO off. It does have the ability to recognize the babies cries and the rocking will get stronger for an upset baby, either jiggling the baby back to sleep or just to a calm state. If the baby is still upset you will be alerted through the app the baby is in need, and the SNOO will turn off. The app also has a feature if you choose to go this route to choose the weaning feature available on the app; This features turns off SNOOs constant motion but allows SNOO to respond if this baby starts to cry.
@lishellet also has a funny story. Her SNOO was rocking her baby on a more medium speed but her baby was fast asleep. She sent me a video asking if it was normal? While listening to the video she sent I heard her dogs crying in their crates, we figured out that her crying dog (in the same room) was causing the SNOO to jiggle faster-haha! It really does adjust to cries :)
Do you feel like it made the transition harder?
I honestly thing the SNOO helped make transitions easier because it allowed Grizz to learn how to self soothe.
@northcountrylittles Also asked: do you feel like it shook the head too much? One video I watched looked a little aggressive.
I will admit the first time it got to the point of Grizz getting so upset that it went through all its settings I was a bit concerned about the speed of the jiggling. I sat and watched and noticed that the time of each jiggling motion may have got stronger but the amount of time it lasted got less and less until the SNOO turned off. Another thing to note when this did happen those few times Grizz was so angry and stiff as a board that the SNOO was barely making his head move.
@elizabethblairollis asked two questions the first being: Did you let it sush baby back to sleep? And if so, how did you decide when to comfort baby yourself or to let the SNOO comfort?
When he was a tiny 2 week newborn I used it more like a bassinet rather than using the rocker at night. I have found with my own babies that they will often choose sleeping over eating-I didn’t want anything to interrupt his natural drive to eat by being rocked back to sleep-I personally know with my own kids they prefer sleeping rather than waking up.
Which is why I chose to forego the rocking motion all night until after two weeks. I used the rocking mode to get him to sleep but as soon as he would fall asleep I would actually turn the rocker off because like I stated above I didn’t want to miss his feeding ques. Once we finally got a feeding schedule down (around 1 month) , I started using the rocker all night because he and I both knew his cues.
The second question by @elizabethblairollis:
Also, did you let it use all soothing settings?
I think there was only a few times when the SNOO rocked to the point of shutting off, it can sense your babies types of cries and will actually turn off and you will get an alert on your phone saying “Baby needs you”; this only happened about three times-all during the day and usually on days when I had tried everything to comfort him so I didn’t mind letting the SNOO go through all its settings because I already felt like I had tried everything-sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t.
Here’s something so FUN @elizabethblairollis actually owns a SNOO and gave us her very own opinion on it!
“We love the SNOO - our little one sleeps better in it than anything else we’ve tried (though still not through the night). We’ve gotten a few four hour stretches which are amazing compared to the 15-30 minutes I was getting- I unfortunately was not blessed with great sleepers, but otherwise my little ones are so happy so I’ll pick my battles.”
My most asked question was
Is it worth the money?
In my experience it is definitely worth the money! It helped Grizz develop the BEST sleep habits and ability to self-soothe. As mommas we always hear that the 3rd baby is the hardest...well I think I owe it to Happiest baby for making Grizz the happiest baby and me the happiest momma to three because of all the SNOO-zin we all got!
Today has been a good day so far! I went and got my eye lashes done, yay- I don’t know how long I will keep them or I guess I should say upkeep them- I had them off for a couple of days and the days without them were glorious. I’m thinking I may give them a break for awhile at least until summer! I really like having them for convenience but the reason I really do them is because it forces me to take a needed break from the ALL the boys and I get to actually talk to an adult women without any interruptions *insert slow clap* (I get them done about once every three weeks.)
This time I had Jared watch the boys since they were sick and I didn’t want a babysitter to come. Well I got a text half way (30 min) into the appointment asking how much longer it was going to be and I knew something had to have happened *insert laughing face*
A little background to the story Jared works shift work so he is constantly switching from working days and nights. Well last night was one of his night shifts.
So he got home around 7 this morning.
My appointment was at 9am so I got Cooper on the bus and to school, got Boone breakfast and turned on a movie, and left Grizz sleeping in his crib. I told Jared to come rest on the couch while Boone watches his movie and I left. Well it turns out Jared fell back asleep and woke up to Boone screaming. Jared starting yelling for Cooper (who was at school) to see what was going on but wasn’t getting a reply, of course, so he finally rolled out of bed to Boone crying/screaming “POOP” (never a good word when you are potty training.) The screaming resulted in waking up Grizz who is now crying in his crib with a face plastered with dried boogers from being sick- Jared is picking up poops off the bathroom floor and cleaning up Boone becaue he tried to wipe himself (note Boone is still crying) *insert hand over face lady* all while trying to comfort Grizz. I initially feel super bad for Boone who was feeling bad that he didn’t make it to the potty and I started feeling guilty I wasn’t there for him, then feeling bad for Grizz because sick babies are the saddest things, and then Jared for because he’s a rockstar who only slept for two hours after working all night cleaning up shit and boogers...then I laugh and think WELCOME TO MOTHERHOOD; I’m glad I got my break for the month today haha! Hope all you mamas are having a great day and that you make sure to take time for yourself!
PS in case you are wondering Jared went back to sleep :) he deserved it after that fiasco.

If you are a parent you know that a baby and child with a stuffy nose can be one of the saddest things ever...espcially for babies! They can't nurse or take a bottle well without having to "come up for air." They can't take a binky because then they can't breath, and it usually results in a sleepness night for everyone because the stuffiness causes a fussy baby. I can't really blame them though I get frustrated when I have a stuffy nose and I can blow my nose to fix it! Babies can't blow there noses so they rely on us to fix it for them. I was in this situation with Grizz just a couple weeks ago I tried the "bulb" that the hosptial gave me and it resulted in such an angry baby who still had boogs. I remembered that I had been gifted the Nosiboo.
The Nosiboo is a nasal aspirator. It plugs into the wall and it sucks the boogs right out of your babes nose-it reminds me of a tiny nose vacuum. It was very user friendly and easy to put together, but the best part is that it didn't make Grizz scream! It was a miracle. I won't lie and say it was a breeze because he did try and turn his head, but once I inserted the nose piece he would sit there and out the boogs would come! Plus I had a baby that could breath again! It's a very light sucking and much nicer than using the bulb! I love that it has different settings of "vacuum power" so it can be customized to each child. It also is VERY clean! The bulbs that the hospital give are really quite gross, since you can't get inside and clean everything; with the Nosiboo the entire bulb part can be taken apart and cleaned. The Nosiboo Pro Aspirator does take power to use, but they also have one-The Nosiboo Eco Aspirator- that you use your own mouth for the "vacuum motion" it is also a cheaper option and would make a great stocking stuffer or If you are interested the Nosiboo Pro is $35 off Cyber Monday. It makes for a great practical Christmas gift for babies or a great baby shower gift if you are in the market for something this this now's the time to buy!
If you ever see me you'll see that my hands are literally full all the time, and even getting into my diaper bag has now become a struggle because I usually have a baby in my arms. I always carry a water bottle in my diaper bag, because chasing boys around can be exhausting, but now with the extra baby it's so hard to get to which is why I absolutely love the Closca Design water bottles. These bottles are perfect for anyone on the go. They have the coolest design I have seen on any bottle because they have the ability to strap right onto things allowing you to be hands free...which is something I really need these days.
They can strap right onto the straps of your backpack, shoulder bag really any sort of bag, AND your strollers too; which I really love because nowadays most strollers don't come with cup holders. The design is really sleek and beautiful so you don't have to worry about ruining your outfit or being too bulky- I honestly forgot I was even wearing it...well until I got thirsty and it was in arms reach *insert cheering* If you ever do run out of water you can check the Closca app to help located where you can find FREE water..because who wants to pay for water? I know I don't...plus it might actually help me to get my daily water intake in since it so easily accessible!! I also really love that that companies mindset was to help with the amount of garbage being dumped into our landfills and making a reusable bottle, because this earth we live in is just way too beautiful not to treat it well. I know that this Closca bottle will definitely be strapped onto my backpack on all our hikes up the mountains, hooked to my stroller on our walks and or just carried around by my boys as they are taking sips from it. Right now Closca Design has a kickstarter for you to get your own bottle just follow the link here to help make your life a little more hands free.
It was Labor Day weekend, the night was cool in temperature and we could feel the first sign of fall on our skin. We parked camp near a stream just for the night to work with some of the most amazing ladies- Dayna from Dayna Grace Photography andJanea Greene, who had never been up our little canyon before. The boys were playful and fun as they explored the world around them. We found a cute little white shed, a trough that was an old bathtub with running water that we played in letting our hands feel the cold water, and a rope swing that is every little boys...and Jared's dream where they could feel the adrenaline and wind rush about their bodies. The smell of camp fire filled our noses, and the taste of mallows, grams, and chocolate filled our mouths and bellies as we sat listening to the boys run around the rustling trees and the crackling fire... and I realized that I am truly the luckiest.
After we left that night I was so excited to see the things that Dayna and Janea captured from our night. Most of the times getting pictures done with kids is such hard work and usually very stressful. This night was not-I think you can see that in the photos and video- They just let us be us, and I think you can tell that we are genuinely happy in them.
I love the playfulness that Dayna Grace Photography captured in the photos; She hit the nail right on the head with capturing each of our personalities and I can't forget to mention she is a dream with the kids. I have included her promo video below for you to watch how amazing she is at capturing those pictures and how she makes you feel at ease.
Janea Greene captured the details of the night so perfectly. I love seeing all of Boone's many facial expression, the playful kick on the butt from Jared as we are walking down the hill, and seeing him like a kid on that swing. I can't get over Grizz'z little chubby hands as he strokes my arm, and watching Cooper examine and touch every little thing he walks by and his smile form on his face...oh that smile! These moments may not seem like anything special but when I watch them I realize they are everything I love about our family. Thanks to Janea I won't forget about these tiny details that are so often forgotten. So if you haven't ever done a video I highly recommend it. If you're lucky enough to hire both Dayna and Janea together then you scored the jackpot.
I want to genuinely thank you, Dayna and Janea, for asking little old me to be part of this collaboration, I honestly had tears running down my face as I viewed the finished product that you ladies sent me. To say that you are a dream team would be an understatement.
We headed to the pumpkin patch, well more like a pumpkin greenhouse with Old Navy today, I have been working with them the last three months. Each month we are given a theme dress around, prep, denim and folk. This folkys theme was my favorite yet. I feel that folk style is a mix of a lot of textures, layers and prints that aren't too bright and overwhelming. Suede is a must in any folk outfit so when I found this skirt I was sold, and I got the vest for the amazing texture it will add to any outfit. I got Cooper a button up with the cutest elbow patches plus it will make the best layering piece for the winter months. Okay so enough about the clothes even though they are SUPER cute... you won't believe what happened on this day, I am not as "mom brained" as I thought but my husband might have a case of "dad brain"!
So went to Ikea to go buy our boys some bunkbeds because I am determined to get them to start sleeping in their own beds because I'm suffering from severe sleep deprivation, not even lying...um can you say 4 hours of sleep last night.. I need some zzzz's! Anyway we stopped at the pumpkin patch first and then took the boys to Ikea...which let me just say they were SAINTS while there, honestly the best shopping trip we've ever had with them and we had ALL THREE..gasp!! Well we got the bunkbeds, shopped around and went to the checkout- Jared loaded the boys in the truck while I finished paying. We loaded our Ikea haul and headed to Cabelas. My husband was started to head in when he asked where his wallet was....ummmm......this mom brain of mine is seriously failing, but the downfall was that my outfit didn't have any pockets. I thought and thought and retraced my steps, and said it was probably in the back door because I buckled Boone..."not there" my husband said. So we had to turn around and head back to Ikea... ugh I was feeling so bad. After a half hour Ikea hunt for the wallet that no one had scene, and me searching the truck like a mad woman, my husband went to the exact same place I told him I thought it was and lo and behold it was there!! You guys my prayer either worked VERY good like some kind of magic or my husband had some kind of masking googles on...I'm going with the latter since he usually asks where the milk is and it's staring at him right in the face...haha! I know I can't be the only women who married a man who can't seem to find anything, I swear we are on a treasure hunt everyday for something, but I can't just say it's his fault I start cleaning and everything goes in the garbage. So we are sending out a SOS for someone to help save our sanity.
I have linked our outfits below!
