i came. i saw. i loved.
Valentines day is one holiday I often hear complaints about- "you shouldn't need a day to show those you love, that you 'love' them." I honestly can't think of anything better to celebrate than LOVE. Love is the route of all goodness-of sharing, of kindness, of honesty, of trust, and of commitment. I think that these things should be celebrated, but still kept in our hearts daily. It is important to show your love more than once a year, yes, but sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life it gets sent to the wayside. I would like to give my husband a candlelight dinner each night, a freshly baked batch of cookies to come to, a handwritten note in his lunchbox, let alone pack his lunch everyday but it's just not realistic-at least in my world-And I, well 'we' are okay with that. We still love each other and we still 'show' our love, but to be able to go above and beyond for that love does something empowering for your heart.
You may not have a spouse or significant other to share that love with but there are many people who are deserving of love who may not get it. Cooper, my little gentleman, and I went around and left flowers on doorsteps with a little notes saying 'you are loved.' It may seem silly but it's funny what good sharing and kindness will do to your own heart, it really will help your heart grow three sizes.
Love is a funny thing really. It is expressed differently. It is felt differently. Each individual person has their own kind of love, but it can still cause the same reaction in ones heart. It causes happiness, heartache, homesickness, passion, jealously, empathy, motivation and more. No matter what your love language may be I hope that you are able to share it with someone.
So thank you Saint Valentine for your not so 'saintly' actions by breaking the rules in name of love.
Happy Valentines Day!
