When I was pregnant with Cooper I didn't get the time to nest. We were in-between our college basement apartment and my in-laws place on the weekends. We just happened to be visiting them the weekend my water broke at 37 weeks; this was lucky since our apartment was almost an hour away from the hospital I was delivering at and less than 10 min from my laws home. Anyway that's besides the point, the point is I never got that nesting feeling with him that feeling of "I'm ready for you" or the extra bonding time through the preparation and excitement you get while doing so. With Boone we had since then purchased a house. We painted his nursery walls, set up the crib, had big letters C and B hung up to signify that it was his and Coopers room, and I scrubbed and did laundry every hour until my induction date. With Grizz it was a little bit harder to feel ready; we were in the middle of a move, my husband had just gotten his finger seriously hurt at work with multiple surgeries, and I was VERY pregnant and working through it all.
The nursery was the room I was the most worried about when we started moving in; obviously as a 7 months pregnant lady I was feeling a little crazy about getting everything done, and I had an entire house to get done. The focus definitely went into the nursery and Cooper and Boone's room. The nursery is my favorite room in the house. It really has such a calming feeling and it just makes me happy every time I walk in, I don't even mind putting laundry away or changing poopy little butts when I'm in there. The room is gender neutral but the pieces in it could easily go either way with some tweaks. I actually had purchased a rug that never arrived to my house until a month after Grizz was born and it completely changed the look of the room...I still decided to go with the first rug-I got too attached to it. I was so worried that I was going to be able to paint the walls since we were in a rental but Ane Wall makes the most amazing removable wallpaper. My husband and I got it up in less than two hours. It was so nice to not have to worry about paint drying, cleaning up the mess afterward, or the stinky fumes that last for days. The most important is that it can be used in rentals because it's not damaging.. yay, yay! Not to mention I was able to start setting up the crib right away. It wish I could have witnessed my 8 month pregnant self trying to set up that crib by myself, haha it's not easy bending over large rails to put bolts into place, but I DID IT, large and in charge. Not to mention that Oeuf crib came with easy instructions, and its super heavy duty so I couldn't break it if I tried.
The wallpaper was up, the crib was ready for a tiny baby the Davinci Baby dresser was stocked with tiny clothes and all the finishing touches were up. It was just a waiting game waiting for our little man to make his appearance...now that he is here I must say the nursery is a whole lot cuter with him in it. I hope that Grizz will enjoy the nursery as he gets older. Right now the sweet little guy and I use it to escape for some quiet time just the two of us, and it's just the perfect place to do so.
There were some amazing shops involved in making the nursery a dream come true for me . I have linked them all below. Plus I am hosting an amazing giveaway on my Instagram right now involving some of them!
