As a parent we all become so proud when our child reaches new milestones in their life. These milestones can be as big as walking or as simple as clapping, it is all so exciting and cute. One of my very favorite milestones, especially with Boone-I think it's his big lips that make it extra cute-is when my boys began feeding themselves. It was so cute to watch their fine motor skills begin to develop and the concentration on their face as they would pinch together their thumb and pointer finger hoping to apply enough pressure to pick some sort of food up, and then trying to get it to their mouths! I mean, the whole ordeal is just plain adorable. Then just like that, it really feels like it's the next day with how quickly they grow, they are ready to use a fork; they just grow up too fast.
With all the growing and the development in their little brains they begin to become more independent. They no longer want help when it comes to eating, which means more messes for me to clean up, and not only on themselves but also on the high chair, on the ground, on the walls and really on anything that is near them. My only wish is that I could just dunk it all in the tub, like I do with my boys, it would make clean up so much easier! Since I can't just throw it all in the tub I have found that Bonnsu Miniware from Design Life Kids helps solve a majority of the mess making. Bonnsu Miniware has an interchangeable suction foot that can attach to their bowls and plates to help keep them on the table/highchair. I love that I can use the suction foots while Boone eats since he is still learning how to feed himself and the bowls/plates don't slide around the table and frustrate him. With Cooper I can easily remove the suction foot because he is past that stage of development--que the tears and nostalgic feelings. Their spoons and forks have an anti-slip notch so they are great for eating while the rounded edges keep them safe, and I don't have to worry about them poking their eyes out-this is a paranoia not even joking. Not only are the spoons and forks pretty darn cute, but those bowls and plates are pretty dreamy too! I love how sturdy they are but still have this beautiful ceramic look of them-I even store them in my glass cupboard for everyone to see.
The color I have is Nordic Lake, which I may have chose just because I LOVE the name, but the pretty grey color isn't too bad to stare at either. I love that the color allows for my boys to really examine, see, and learn about their food because they aren't being distracted by noisy plates covered in bright cartoon characters. Not only is the Bonnsu Miniware very practical and stylish, but it is also a safe and healthy alternative to the more common baby feeding plates and bowls that are made from plastics. Bonnsu Miniware is made from "heat pressed bamboo fiber powder which is both natural and passes international food safety tests, " and a GIANT plus in my book is that they are dishwasher and microwave safe! I also love that it is safe enough add to your soil as it will break down-talk about an amazing way to helping keep our earth clean. I have really enjoyed using our Bonnsu Minware products! They are very practical, help with children development, are safe, and have such amazing colors and pretty design that I wouldn't mind eating from myself....dinner party anyone??
