“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”Roald Dahl
We had errands that needed to be ran, but per usual were running late. I quickly threw on the rompers from Rags to Raches since it was the perfect mix of easy, quick, comfy and stylish, a lightweight beanie On Boone and ball cap for Cooper to avoid a "no, no, no noooo hair" meltdown from Cooper. We were in the car within minutes.
On our errand run we had to make a quick market stop where Cooper spotted a watermelon; a watermelon there was no possible way we could leave without.
It was the first watermelon of the season, it was warm, and tasted like summer; we took to the park to celebrate. We soaked in the vitamin D that our skin had been missing for so long, and didn't miss the boots that our feet traded in for sandals. We played and we played hard, without a care in the world. By the time we left our rompers were wet with curiosity, our feet were barefoot with wild, our minds were filled with experiences and memories, and we looked really "lovely."
-,That night as I was sitting-reflecting-our day felt different. I felt in tune with not only myself but with my boys. I then remembered how we took some pictures together then after I tossed my phone aside and really played-no Instagram, no Snapchat, no sitting by myself scrolling looking at other peoples lives when mine happening in front of me-just my boys, myself, and a few mental pictures. I thought what would I have missed if I been on my phone. Would I have missed Cooper making a new friend, Boone putting rocks on and off the slide, would I have missed the opportunity to talk to a teenage girl who was sitting on the swing by herself who confided in me about things in life that no one should have to think about...what if? I am glad I tossed my phone that day, because Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and Pinterest, aren't going anywhere. They stay. Our lives our continue on without us whether we are present or not, and I would rather be 'rich' in memories than anything else.
